Janet joined ServiceMaster on the 29 February 2016 as the Human Resources Manager. She is a Chartered Member of Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD) with 25 years’ experience.

Previous career

Janet’s career has been mainly in the private sector working in HR Operations and Business Partnering roles, but latterly has included public sector work. She has undertaking HR roles for the Police Training Authority, the Office of Fair Trading and the British Airports Authority at Heathrow Airport, plus roles in manufacturing, education and IT.

Janet has also worked overseas, managing global resourcing for an organisation in the United Arab Emirates which provided an extremely diverse environment. More recently, Janet has worked in Estates and Facilities Management with cleaning and maintenance staff, so she is familiar with people management issues in the cleaning industry.

An initial career as a PA/Secretary, mainly in London and then in the oil industry in the Middle East and North Africa provided broad business awareness, leading to retraining in Business and Finance before taking the CIPD qualifications in HR.

Janet’s key responsibilities for ServiceMaster

To aid all other departments and help make policy decisions enabling the business to benefit financially, legally, structurally, procedurally and contribute to best practice, taking into account internal and external forces and steer the company away from legal liabilities. Equally importantly, the HR team looks out for the well-being and rights of employees and employers.

Main objectives in my job role (personal thoughts)

Ensure ServiceMaster continues to manage and support its people so they in turn can focus on delivering great customer service.

Future Plans

Contribute to both the operational and strategic areas of the business.
